Gorzów Wielkopolski – the green lungs of Poland
Gorzów Wielkopolski offers its guests an interesting walk across the town, where old ages set their stamp on defence walls and a number of buildings, as well as the possibility of rest in one of the 12 parks with an area of 128 ha and lawns surrounding areas around squares, buildings and street corners. As the centre of the area called “green lungs of Poland”, Gorzów is also an excellent starting point for hiking tours or short recreation excursions. In the areas surrounding Gorzów, there are many lakes, rivers, woods, including three forests (e.g. the Rzepińska Forest and the Notecka Forest, famous for their mushrooms), numerous national parks and nature reserves. Only 50 km from the city there is the largest bat reserve in Europe and also a water fowl reserve. If you seek relaxation from the urban noise, Gorzów Wielkopolski is an ideal place for you – it is a charming town which does not overwhelm tourists with its size and pace of living. It may be interesting to mention that Gorzów is situated on seven hills – just like Rome.

Fountains and monuments
As a town full of green, Gorzów cannot do without fountains, which decorate parks and boulevards and offer an enthralling sight of the play of lights and water in the evening (the illuminated fountain in the Górczyński Park is a good example). A walk across the beautifully illuminated Boulevard on the Warta River is also an unforgettable experience, when we can see the ruins of medieval city fortifications with four shell towers emerging from half-shadows and dark corners. Towers are built of cobblestone and red brick. The massive Gothic Church of Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which was constructed from the 13th till the 17th century, and a granary with a 18th century skeleton construction also remind us of the past. And the monument of Polish-German friendship, which is symbolised by the Bell of Peace, proves that co-operation and agreement between both nations is possible in spite of their difficult history.

A tourist who visits contemporary Gorzów will certainly find here a number of curious places, such as the Witches’ Well and the Avenue of Famous People of Gorzów. One of the unique characteristics of the city are its monuments, which commemorate not only famous historical persons, such as Adam Mickiewicz or John Paul II, but also city symbols, such as the popular Gorzów down-and-out – Szymon Gięta.

Kostrzyńsko - Słubicka Special Economic Zone
Gorzów owes its development mainly to its excellent location and the proximity of Germany, because of which a special economic zone was established. The zone is located on the main East-West transport route, near main roads, including a junction of the A-2 motorway and the largest road and railway border crossings (passengers and cargo) in western Poland. The zone has direct access to the Paris – Berlin - Warsaw - Moscow international railway line. There is also river transport along the Oder River to sea ports in Szczecin and Świnoujście as well as river ports in Berlin and Hamburg (permanent line connections). The Warta River, along with a system of canal facilities, can be used to transport goods into the interior of Poland. Berlin is only 80 kilometres distant and accessible by road or rail in about one hour. The German capital with its numerous investment opportunities and continuously developing modern technological industries provides an ideal opportunity for dynamic development of businesses established inside the Zone.
